Cause of House Fire Under Investigation

(July 25, 2016) The cause of an early morning fire is still under investigation in the 12800 block of Early Wood Dr. The fire was initially reported by the neighbors who could see flames coming from the rear garage area. One firefighter was transported to Baylor Scott & White Centennial for a heat related injury and no other injuries were reported. Damages are estimated to be in excess of $450,000.

Dispatch was alerted to the fire at 5:29 AM. The first unit arrived at 5:36 AM and reported flames through the roof at the rear of the structure. The residents were home at the time but were able to get out of the residence prior to the fire department arriving. The fire was reported out at 7:13 AM.

Frisco Fire Department sent three engines, an aerial ladder, an ambulance as well as the Department’s rescue, rehab, and safety specialty units to battle the blaze. Additional Frisco Fire Department units, as well as a mutual aid engine from McKinney Fire Department, were brought to the scene to assist due to the excessive heat and humidity during the early morning hours. A total of 34 firefighters were used at the scene.
