Four Mosquito Pools Test Positive for WNV; Frisco to Spray Saturday, Sunday nights

(September 16, 2016) The City of Frisco will spray for mosquitoes September 17 and 18 after receiving confirmation four mosquito pools tested ‘positive’ for West Nile virus (WNV).

Weather permitting, on the first evening, spraying will start at 10 p.m. Saturday and continue through 6 a.m. Sunday. Spraying will resume at 10 p.m. Sunday (weather permitting) and continue through 6 a.m. Monday.

  • Areas north and south of Rolater Road between Hillcrest and Coit
  • Today’s confirmations bring the number of ‘positive’ mosquito pools in Frisco this summer to 46. No human cases are confirmed here.

    “Even though temperatures are getting cooler, mosquito season continues through November 15 so we really encourage everyone to be diligent about protecting themselves against bites,” said Julie Stallcup, City of Frisco Environmental Health Supervisor. "Remember to drain standing water around your home, including french drains and gutters."

    In accordance with its plan, Frisco began testing for mosquitoes May 1.
