(March 10, 2017) Spring forward this Sunday and adjust your sprinkler system. The City of Frisco reminds residents Daylight Saving Time (DST) triggers time-of-day watering restrictions under the city’s annual Water Efficiency Plan. Beginning March 12, outdoor watering is not allowed between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. This year, DST runs through November 5.
Free, irrigation check-ups are available to all residents, whether you’re new to the city or a longtime residential water customer. Frisco has licensed irrigators available, by appointment, to detect broken or misaligned sprinkler heads, evaluate your system’s water use efficiency and make scheduling adjustments to your controller.
Residents should only water when necessary, on their recycling and trash day. It’s a best practice to keep sprinkler systems turned off. The City of Frisco also has its own, onsite weather station that staff uses to calculate weekly watering recommendations. To receive these weekly advisories, go to www.FriscoTexas.gov/Water and subscribe to e-mail updates.
When doing yard work, please remember: over-seeding and watering cool season grasses (such as rye) are prohibited.
Remember - change your clock, change your battery. After changing the clocks around your home, make sure you have also replaced the batteries in your smoke detectors.
