(May 1, 2017) TxDOT will open the new northbound lanes of F.M. 423 between Little Elm Parkway and U.S. 380 on Monday night, May 1. The traffic switch will start at 6:00 p.m. Monday night and is expected to be completed by 6:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. Traffic on F.M. 423 will be switched so that north and southbound traffic will begin flowing on opposite sides of the median. Motorists are urged to use caution in the area during the traffic switch and to watch for flaggers. After the switch, two lanes of F.M. 423 will be open in the northbound direction and one lane will be open in the southbound direction. Additional lanes will open in the following weeks as work on the sides of the road is completed.
After the traffic switch, traffic patterns will be altered at the major intersections along F.M. 423 at Sunland Park Drive, Eldorado Parkway, Panther Creek Parkway and U.S. 380. Each of these intersections will become a typical major intersection with traffic flowing on opposite sides of the median in all directions. In addition, the temporary traffic signal equipment will be replaced by permanent traffic signals that will begin operating in the typical fashion for a major intersection.
After the traffic switch, motorists turning onto F.M. 423 from a side street or a driveway should pay special attention to the new location of stop lines and medians. All motorists are urged to use caution in the area as people become accustomed to the new traffic patterns.
