Surgeon Required to Extricate Person from a Trencher

(February 1, 2018) At 8:55 a.m. the Frisco Fire Department responded to a person who was trapped in a trenching machine. The first unit arrived at 9:00 a.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a man who was entangled in the trenching blades of the machine. Firefighters then called for a surgeon to be flown to the scene due to the patient's injuries and level of entrapment. 

An air ambulance transported a Medical City Plano surgeon to the scene.  The surgeon arrived at 9:36 a.m.  The Frisco Fire Department’s medical director Dr. Mark Gamber also responded.

The surgeon amputated of one of the patient's legs to free him from the machinery. The patient was transported to Medical City of Plano by Air Ambulance.
