Expired Violations 

Motor Vehicle Inspection
If you have been charged with Expired Motor Vehicle Inspection, you may be eligible to have the citation dismissed, only if you renew the inspection within twenty (20) days of receiving the citation. Expired Motor Vehicle Inspections greater than 60 days overdue may not be dismissed.

If Motor Vehicle Inspection has been expired for more than 60 days, you may:

• Pay the fine (See Fine Schedule).
• Set a court date to discuss your situation with the Judge.

Expired Driver's License or Motor Vehicle Registration
You may be eligible to have a citation for these violations dismissed.

To have a citation for expired driver's license or expired registration dismissed, you must:
• Appear in court by the appearance date on your citation.
• Get the violation corrected within twenty (20) working days from the date of your citation and provide proof to that effect to the court within twenty (20) working days    from the date of your citation .
• The proof of correction for Expired Motor Vehicle Inspection must show the vehicle PASSED the inspection.
• Proof of correction for Expired Registration must show that a 20% penalty was paid to the Department of Motor Vehicles at the time the registration was renewed. If the penalty is not paid, the Court cannot dismiss the citation.
• Pay a $10 dismissal fee for offenses occurring on or before January 01, 2008, or $20.00 for offenses occurring on or after January 01, 2008.

You may be eligible to have one of the following offenses dismissed if it was received on or after January 01, 2008:

$20.00 Dismissal Fee Offenses
• Operate Motor Vehicle without license plates or with one plate
• Fail to Report Change of Address

To have a citation for Operate Motor Vehicle without License Plates or with One Plateor Fail to Report Change of Addressdismissed, you must:
• Appear in court by the appearance date on your citation.
• Get the violation corrected within twenty (20) working days from the date of your citation and provide proof to that effect to the court within twenty (20) working days from the date of your citation .
• The proof of correction must be acceptable by the court.  A personal court appearance before the Judge may be required.
• Pay a $20.00 dismissal fee.

$10.00 Dismissal Fee Offenses
• Display Altered, Unclean, or Obscured License Plates
• Fail to Display Driver's License
• Violate Drivers License Restriction or Endorsement
• Operate Vehicle with Defective Equipment

To have a citation from the above list dismissed, you must:
• Appear in court by the appearance date on your citation.
• Get the violation corrected within twenty (20) working days from the date of your citation and provide proof to that effect to the court within twenty (20) working days    from the date of your citation .
• The proof of correction must be acceptable by the court.  A personal court appearance before the Judge may be required.
• Pay a $10.00 dismissal fee.
