City of Frisco accepting applications for boards, commissions, with July 31 deadline 

(June 19, 2014) Looking for a way to get involved in your city government? The City of Frisco will soon be accepting applications from residents interested in volunteering to serve on city boards and commissions. The positions on boards and commissions are appointed by City Council members based on the individuals who apply. Applicants must have lived in the City of Frisco for at least one year prior to applying and must be a registered voter. Term dates begin October 1, 2014, and regular attendance is expected.

Applications may be downloaded at FriscoTexas.gov/boards and can also be picked up between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the Office of the City Secretary, located on the fifth floor of City Hall, 6101 Frisco Square Blvd.

The following are the current openings. All terms are for two years unless indicated otherwise:

Board of Adjustment (BOA)/Construction Board of Appeals (five vacancies)

·        3  regular members

·        2  alternate members

Community Development Corporation (CDC) (three vacancies)

·         3  regular members

Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) (five vacancies) *Board members must meet certain requirements to fill positions, so please contact City Staff for more information.

  • 1 Hotel Representative
  • 1 At-Large Positions
  • 1 Restaurant Representative
  • 1 Sports Team Representative
  • 1 Ex-Officio

Downtown Advisory Board (DAB) (three vacancies)

  • 1 business or property owner
  • 2 regular members

Frisco Economic Development Corporation (FEDC) (three vacancies)

·        3 regular positions

Frisco Housing Authority Board (FHAB) (two vacancies)

  • 1 regular member
  • 1 tenant member


Social Services and Housing Trust Fund Board (HTFB) (three vacancies)

·        3 regular members

Parks & Recreation Board (PRB) (three vacancies)

·        3 regular members


Planning & Zoning Commission
(one vacancy)

·        1 regular member* (members are committed for a 3-year term)

Public Art Board (PAB) (three vacancies)

·        3 regular members

Urban Forestry Board (UFB) (three vacancies)

·        3 regular members

Applications will be accepted beginning Monday, July 1, 2014, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The deadline for filing is July 31, 2014, at 5 p.m.  Late applications will not be accepted. Call the City Secretary’s Office at 972-292-5020, or email citysec@friscotexas.gov for additional information.
