(April 16, 2014) Frisco residents will celebrate Earth Day on April 26 by making their community a cleaner, greener place to call home.
At two separate but coordinated events, residents will get a chance to clean up throughout their community or simply clean out their garage. They can participate in the popular annual community cleanup effort, Clean It or Green It, as an individual, family or organization. Volunteer groups are encouraged to pre-register by contacting Molly Kinson or just show up that morning, prepared to help.
Volunteers may arrive at IKEA, 7171 IKEA Drive, prior to 9 a.m. to receive cleanup supplies, t-shirts and a location assignment on the spot. Pre-registered volunteers who receive their supplies in advance will begin the clean-up in their pre-assigned locations by 9 a.m.
Volunteers can meet back at IKEA from 11 a.m.-noon for a free lunch (provided by IKEA, for volunteers only, and while supplies last). VIEW MAP HERE. Other fun Earth Day entertainment will include bounce houses, face painting and meet-and-greet with Super Rufus the Recycling Dog.
Chunk Your Junk also is scheduled for April 26 from 8 a.m. until noon at IKEA. Frisco residents with a utility billing account can donate, recycle or throw away common household items. See list here. Residents wishing to participate in "Chunk Your Junk" and "Clean It and Green It" are encouraged to arrive early to avoid long lines.
