Easter Eggstravaganza Happens Tomorrow, April 9 at Pizza Hut Park; Shuttle Service Running from Parking Lots to Egg Hunt Fields

(April 8, 2011) Calling all egg hunters – join the City of Frisco Parks and Recreation Department for the 19th Annual Easter Eggstravaganza tomorrow, April 9, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Pizza Hut Park. The Easter Bunny will leave 60,000 eggs for children ages two to 12 to collect. Pizza Hut Park is located just east of the northeast corner of Dallas Parkway and Main Street.

The free egg hunt starts at 2:00 p.m. sharp. The event and parking map shows the location of each field and its corresponding egg hunt age group:

Field 9       (ages 2 and younger)
Field 10     Summer Open House and other event activities
                      Field 11     (ages 3 & 4)
                      Field 12     (ages 5 & 6)
                      Field 14     (ages 7 to 12)

Parking at Pizza Hut Park is free. The general public parking lots are colored in blue on the map. Shuttles will transport the public from the blue parking lots south of Technology Drive to fields 9 – 14. The green line on the map shows the shuttle route with six pick-up points and the drop-off point.

Those with special needs who have a vehicle with a handicap placard may park in the east VIP parking lot on the north side of Technology Drive. Please access the lot by entering from Frisco Street. The blue lots also have designated handicap parking.

Children should line up on the outside boundary lines of their age-specific field 10 minutes before the egg hunt starts. To be fair to all participants, children are not allowed on the fields until the hunt starts; and parents are asked to not pick up the eggs for their children. No strollers will be allowed on the fields, but there will be a stroller check-in at the event.

Field 10 will feature the Parks and Recreation Summer Open House, where you can learn about classes and programs for the entire family and summer camps for the kids.  Face painters, bounce houses, games and photos with the Easter Bunny are also part of the activities.

Kids entering the Easter Bonnet Contest should wear their homemade bonnet and check in at the performance area on Field 10 before 1:30 p.m. Judging begins at 1:45 p.m., and prizes will be awarded in four age categories. Please review the complete list of contest rules at FriscoFun.org.
