Frisco to ground spray for mosquitoes September 9 & 10

(September 6, 2012) The City of Frisco will ground spray for mosquitoes two nights in a row, September 9 and 10, between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., following confirmation of an eighth human case of West Nile virus (WNV) by Collin County health authorities.

Frisco will carry out ground spraying Sunday and Monday nights, targeting an area bordered by Main Street, Starboard Street, Rolater Road and Maiden Lane... view a map of the spray area

Frisco reminds residents to practice ‘The Four D’s’, which are precautionary measures promoted by the Texas Department of State Health Services:

-        DRAIN all standing water (bird baths, potted plant saucers, tires, backyard toys, stagnant fountains);

-        DRESS in light-colored, long sleeve clothing when outdoors;

-        DEET…Use mosquito repellants that contain Deet;

-        DUSK OR DAWN… Mosquitoes are most active during dusk and dawn. Avoid outdoor activities during these hours, when possible.  Otherwise, make sure you use repellant containing DEET when outdoors during these times.

City employees continue to treat city parks and other city-owned properties with larvacide briquettes. Residents may purchase larvacide briquettes (or granular form) at home improvement stores.
