Hop on by for Springtime Fun at Two Parks & Recreation Events

Easter Eggstravaganza is March 24 at FC Dallas Stadium;
Aqua Egg Hunt is March 31 at the Frisco Athletic Center Indoor Pools

(March 20, 2012) The hunt for springtime fun will lead families to two Parks and Recreation events happening this month. Kids 12 and younger can bring their baskets and collect some of the 70,000 eggs left by the Easter Bunny at the 20th Annual Easter Eggstravaganza happening Saturday, March 24, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at FC Dallas Stadium (practice fields 9 – 14). FC Dallas Stadium is located just east of the northeast corner of Dallas Parkway and Main Street.

The free egg hunt starts at 2:00 p.m. sharp. Children should line up on the outside boundary lines of their age-specific field 10 minutes before the egg hunt starts. To be fair to all participants, children are not allowed on the field before the hunt. Parents are asked to not pick up the eggs for their children. Read egg hunt rules.

The event and parking map shows the location of each field and its corresponding egg hunt age group: Field 11 (special needs children and ages 2 and younger); Field 9 (ages 3 & 4); Field 12 (ages 5 & 6); Field 14 (ages 7 to 12).  No strollers will be allowed on the fields, but there will be a stroller check-in.

There’s more to this eggstravaganza than hunting eggs. Field 10 will feature the Parks and Recreation Summer Open House, where you can learn about fun classes and programs for the entire family and summer camps for the kids. Face painters, bounce houses, games and free photos with the Easter Bunny are also part of the activities.

Kids ages three to 12 are invited to enter the Easter Bonnet Contest. Contestants should bring their homemade bonnet to the information tent on Field 10 before 1:30 p.m. Check back at 2:30 p.m. when the winners will be announced. Prizes will be awarded in four age categories. Please review the complete list of contest rules if you plan to enter.

Then on Saturday, March 31, kids can dive into more fun at the Aqua Egg Hunt, happening from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the Frisco Athletic Center, 5828 Nancy Jane Ln. Kids, ages 2 ½ to ten, are invited to swim and hunt for prize-filled eggs.  Admission is $12 ($15 for non-residents) and includes ‘the hunt’, a day-long swim pass and a treat from the Easter Bunny.  Pre-registration is required and available online at FriscoFun.org, or in person at the Frisco Athletic Center. Mesh bags are provided for participants to collect the eggs in the pool, but remember to bring your own basket or bag to take your eggs home. The approximate hunt times and rules are listed on FriscoFun.org.

For more information on these events, email FriscoFun@FriscoTexas.gov or call Parks and Recreation at 972-292-6600.  If you would like to volunteer for the Easter Eggstravaganza, please call (972) 292-5078, or email volunteer@FriscoTexas.gov. The Easter Eggstravaganza is sponsored by Liberty Mutual, 3:16 Team Realty, Legacy Christian Academy, Costco, David McDavid Honda of Frisco, and Neighborsgo.

Please note that the city listed an incorrect date for Easter Eggstravaganza in an ad published in the March 16 edition of Neighborsgo. We apologize for any confusion this caused.
