New Traffic Signal on Independence Parkway at Kelmscot Drive

(August 21, 3013) A new traffic signal on Independence Parkway at Kelmscot Drive will be activated today in the flashing mode. Traffic on Independence Parkway will not have to stop at the flashing yellow light. Traffic on Kelmscot Drive will see a flashing red light and will continue to stop at the stop sign.

The stop signs will be removed and the traffic signal will become fully operational on Friday, August 23.  Motorists are urged to use caution at this intersection as people become accustomed to the new traffic control patterns.

School starts on Monday, and crossing guards will again be located on Independence Parkway in front of nearby Vandeventer Middle School. Students can use the crossing guards or the new traffic signal to cross Independence Parkway.
