Westbound Lane of Rolater Road Closed While Crews Repair Fiber Optic Line

(February 18, 2011) One westbound lane of Rolater Road remains closed between Stone Hearth Drive and Napa Valley Drive while repairs are made to a damaged fiber optic line. At approximately 1:45 p.m. this afternoon, the driver of an 18-wheeler turned onto Rolater Road from Stone Hearth Drive and got the vehicle caught in the fiber optic line. A power line was also pulled down with the fiber optic line. The two lines were temporarily tangled and arced, sending off sparks. The sparks caused a fire in the front yard of a home.

Frisco Fire and Police responded. The fire did not spread, and only the 18-wheeler was damaged. No one was injured. Power has been restored to the area.

There is no estimate at this time on how long it will take for CoServ to repair the fiber optic line and when the closed lane of Rolater Road will reopen to traffic.
