Phone Service Disrupted Following Fire in Utility Box

Police Step Up Patrols for Emergencies

(December 23, 2010)  Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of a fire that damaged a utility box and resulted in a phone service outage. At 3:17 p.m., firefighters were called to the intersection of Fox Ridge Trail and Teel Parkway, which is a quarter mile north of Lebanon.

Firefighters say AT & T reports its unknown how many phone lines are impacted by this outage; however, the utility box is capable of handling 1,800 phone lines. As a result, the Frisco Police Department will step up patrols in the area to respond to emergencies for those without cell phones.

AT & T crews are working to restore service; however, company representatives tell Frisco Fire it could take a long as four days (96 hours) to restore service.

Residents are advised to check their phones for service. If they hear a dial tone, there is NO need to call 911, unless there is an emergency.
