Stonebrook Parkway from Preston Road to DNT reduced to two lanes for 28-month project

PUBLIC MEETING SET FOR JULY 30 AT 6:30 P.M.

(July 25, 2012) An improvement project on Stonebrook Parkway between Preston Road and the Dallas North Tollway will widen the road to a six-lane, divided roadway and include the extension of an underground water line, which will improve water pressure to areas of Frisco west of the DNT. The four-phases of construction are estimated to last for 28 months, starting at the end of July 2012 and continuing through November 2014. During construction the westbound lanes of Stonebrook Parkway will be closed, while the eastbound lanes of Stonebrook Parkway will remain open. One lane will be for eastbound traffic and the other lane dedicated to westbound traffic. During Phase 3 all lanes of Stonebrook between Parkwood Boulevard and Dallas Parkway will close.

A meeting about the Stonebrook Parkway Project will be held on Monday, July 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the Frisco Chamber of Commerce, located at 6843 Main St. Engineering Services staff will be available to answer questions residents and business owners have about the project.

Voter-approved bonds are funding the $10.2 million improvement project. The four phases of construction are explained below and can be viewed on the project map.  The timeframe for each phase of construction is an estimate and subject to change.

Phase I (Scheduled for July 2012 to September 2012)

·        Construct westbound dual left turn lanes on Rolater Road just east of Preston Road

Phase 2 (Scheduled for September 2012 to June 2013)

·        Reconstruct westbound Stonebrook Parkway west of Preston Road to Parkwood Boulevard to provide three travel lanes

·        Install 36 inch diameter water line under the new westbound travel lanes

Phase 3 (Scheduled for June 2013 to April 2014)

·        Reconstruct Stonebrook Parkway west of Parkwood Boulevard to Dallas Parkway to provide three travel lanes in both directions

·        Install 36 inch diameter water line under the new westbound travel lanes

·        Both eastbound and westbound lanes will be closed.

·        Frisco High School driveway will still have access to Parkwood Blvd.

Phase 4 (Scheduled for April 2014 to November 2014)

·        Widen Stonebrook Parkway west of Dallas Parkway to provide extended eastbound dual left turn lanes and an eastbound right turn lane

·        Widen Dallas Parkway to provide a southbound right turn lane

Motorists are urged to use caution in the construction zone and to choose an alternate route in advance. Alternate east/west routes between Preston Road and the Dallas North Tollway are Main Street and Lebanon Road. Wade Boulevard is another option for travel between Preston Road and Parkwood Boulevard.
