(January 15, 2013) The New Year brings a new trash/recycling collection day for 5,300 homes in the north east part of Frisco. A total of 3,800 homes will move from Friday collection to Tuesday collection; another 1,500 homes will switch from Tuesday collection to Friday collection. Changes are effective February 11. All other collection days remain the same.
“Frisco’s continued -- and anticipated -- growth resulting from new neighborhood developments make the changes necessary,” said Henry Hill, Deputy City Manager. “This helps us collect more efficiently by reducing trucks’ fuel consumption, emissions, ‘wear and tear’ and ‘crisscrossing’ throughout the city. Ultimately, such reductions help us keep lower service rates.”
As a result of changes made to the trash/recycling collection day for some, the outdoor watering day schedule will change for 5,300 homes, as well.
“Since this change is taking place during winter when grasses are dormant, hopefully residents will be prepared for the changes once spring-summer arrive when most outdoor watering is recommended,” said Hill.
The areas being changed include:
Tuesday to Friday: 1,500 homes bordered on the north by Rolater, on the east by Custer, on the west by Coit, and to the south by S.H. 121.
Friday to Tuesday: 3,800 homes bordered on the north by Main, on the east by Coit, on the west by Preston Rd., and to the south by Rolater .
