ADAAA - The American with Disabilities Act as Amended

Under the American with Disabilities Act as Amended (ADAAA), reasonable accommodation can be requested. The preferred method to request accommodation is by completing the Hartford ADA Medical Assessment Form and sending the form directly to the City's leave administrator, The Hartford. When a request for an accommodation is submitted to the Hartford, it will be reviewed and a determination will be made regarding the request.

A reasonable accommodation is any change in the work environment (or in the way things are usually done) to help a person with a disability apply for a job, perform the duties of a job, or enjoy the benefits and privileges of employment. Examples of reasonable accommodation might include, making the workplace accessible for wheelchair users or providing a reader or interpreter for someone who is blind or hearing impaired.
