Simpson Plaza Closed Saturday and Sunday for Arts Festival; Parking Blocked Starting Friday

(March 28, 2019) The roads around Simpson Plaza will be closed Saturday and Sunday, March 30 and 31, for the “Arts in the Square” festival. The roads will close at 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning and will remain closed throughout the weekend. The roads will reopen by 9:00 p.m. Sunday night. During this road closure, Frisco Square residents, customers, library patrons, and those attending the event will need to take alternate routes to their destinations (see attached map). Detour signs will be posted.

In addition, the parking spaces around Simpson Plaza will be blocked off a day early (on Friday, March 29) so the art festival can be set up. As a result, no parking will be available directly in front of the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. During these days, library patrons and visitors to City Hall can park in the free parking garage behind the building. Handicap parking is available on each level of the garage next to the elevator.

When the roads around Simpson Plaza are closed over the weekend, library patrons approaching the building on Main Street should turn south on Frisco Street and use Page Street to reach the parking garage behind the Library (see attached map). Patrons approaching on northbound Dallas Parkway can turn east on Page Street. The drive-through lane behind the building will be accessible the entire weekend for book drop-off and pick-up.

Frisco Square customers and those attending the arts festival can park in the western parking garages (which will be accessible from Coleman Boulevard or World Cup Way), in the East Frisco Square parking lot (which will be accessible from Coleman Boulevard and eastbound Main Street), or in the municipal parking garage behind the Library. See attached map.

Visitors and residents can use the Waze app to navigate around road closures:
