(March 30, 2019) The below information is sourced from the Department of Public Safety (DPS). The Frisco Police Department is asking returning residents of the La Valencia apartment complex to contact officers still on scene regarding getting home as some areas have not yet been released from the crime scene.
From DPS - The suspect involved in yesterday’s incident was located inside an apartment in the 6800 block of Lebanon Road. Negotiators worked throughout the incident to convince the suspect to give up. At multiple times during the standoff, the suspect fired multiple rounds at Officers as they attempted to effect an arrest. After nearly 15 hours, SWAT teams were able to take the suspect, identified as Bryan M. Cahill, 42, of Frisco into custody at approximately 5:05 a.m.
The suspect was taken to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Once released, he will be taken to the Collin County Jail and be charged with aggravated assault on a police officer.
There were multiple agencies involved in this incident including Frisco Police, McKinney Police, Richardson Police, Plano Police, Little Elm Police, the FBI and others. Through the efforts of outstanding law enforcement cooperation, this incident has been safely brought to an end.
Crime scene technicians will be working throughout the day at the apartment complex. Residents of the complex are asked to be patient as the investigation continues. Texas Rangers are investigating and no additional information is currently available.
